Tjeko Uganda Pedals Toward a Greener, More Playful Future.
Last Sunday, Tjeko Uganda joined Jinja’s Car-Free Day, where Main Street was filled with cyclists instead of cars. Without cars on the road, the streets were cleaner, safer, and more fun for everyone riding their bikes!
This year’s theme—“Jinja Bicycle City: Dutch inspiration for a people-centred city”—encouraged everyone to think of the streets as places for people on bikes, enjoying the freedom of cycling. With support from 12GO Biking, Tjeko hit the streets to show how cycling can make cities happier and better places to live.
“It was awesome to be part of this event because of what the day stands for,” shared one team member. “The riding itself was fun and reminded me of our times biking together as a team. I pray this starts a conversation on bike lanes in Jinja, like we have on some roads in Kampala. The MC mentioned that the goal is to turn the city into a people-centred space, which sounds amazing for both business and quality of life.”
It wasn’t just about riding bikes—it was about changing how we think about transportation, road safety, and clean air. The event brought the community together to enjoy the streets and have fun while supporting a healthier, greener way of life. As Tjeko’s team participated in the event, it became clear that a greener, more bike-friendly future is possible!
For Tjeko, this day was all about community, fun, and showing that when we all work together, we can make the world a better, more joyful place to live—one pedal at a time.
