It’s Tjeko’s birthday!

Last week Ferdi shared a timeline and it is so cool to see what we have experienced so far!

We are happy to share a few highlights with you:

Since 2010 we have:

– been able to reach hundreds of thousands of children with the importance of play!
– trained hundreds of young people during the Tjeko Academy
– got to set up 19 Fun Fairs where thousands of children could play and be child again
– the team has grown from 5 employees to 11 paid employees!

And these are just a few – thank you – points.. since last year we can physically focus on developing a piece of land for the Fun Village!

On November 19, we celebrate World Children's Day and the great potential of every child—full of dreams, talents, and the boundless energy to shape a brighter tomorrow. At Tjeko, we believe in the power of play to unlock this potential, because every child deserves to thrive.

But let’s talk about something serious for a moment: Child rights are human rights. These rights are non-negotiable and universal—meant for every child, in every corner of the world. Sadly, in too many places today, these rights are being misunderstood, ignored, or worse—denied entirely.

What does this mean?

A child’s right to education is being stolen by conflict.
A child’s right to safety is under threat due to violence.
A child’s right to play—what we call a FUN-damental right—is overshadowed by daily struggles.
This isn’t just a distant problem—it’s a challenge for all of us to address. Children everywhere deserve love, dignity, and opportunities to grow.

At Tjeko, we’re taking action!
Through the gift of play, we’re helping children rediscover their joy and strength. Play isn’t just fun; it’s essential for building creativity, confidence, and community. It’s our way of honoring children’s rights and investing in their future.

👉 So this week, we’re asking you to join us. Take a moment to reflect on the rights of children around you—and around the world. How can you stand up for their voices? How can you protect their dreams?

🎉 Hooray! Our Food Forest is celebrating its 1-year anniversary! 🎉

A year full of measuring, planting, growing, and... even harvesting! The Tjeko team is building a green, sustainable future.

How? We invest in:

🌍 The Land – We restore and maintain the food forest, contributing to a greener environment.

👧 The Children – We organize activities on the land that inspire and educate children through play in the park, special events, and, in the future, at our campsite.

🤝 The Community – Through the Tjeko Method, we connect and strengthen the community, children, and their caregivers.

The first seeds are being planted in our new nursery beds: spinach, carrots, and onions! This important step is helping us build a sustainable food source for the future. Every seed planted now means fresh, nutritious vegetables for the community soon! Thank you for your support—together, we’re making growth happen! 🌿

Play is essential for the healthy development of children: we are ambassadors for more space and time to play in developing countries.
