TJEKO CLUB// Last week we started one of our newest activities called: Tjeko Club! The reason that Tjeko is establishing these clubs is because the schools are currently closed due to covid 19.
The first Tjeko Clubs are born!
The first small Tjeko clubs are created in the Kimasa communities. “It’s a new way of meeting children we should meet in schools.” Unfortunately, due to corona, the children are still or again at home. Not all children are allowed to go back to school yet. “
It is nice to hear from parents that they are happy with our program. According to the parents, our lessons help stimulate the children in creativity and they see the difference in their children before and after a lesson from us.
Our Tjeko team create groups of 10-20 small young boys and girls. We started our clubs in Makenke, Sakabusola and Kitovu.
For example, we met a young group of guys who were playing soccer. We tell the children educational stories. They were inspired by Waiswa’s story (written by our staff member Alban). The story is about determination. To never give up on your dream, no matter what challenge you face.
We also play Ugandan outdoor games such as ‘eki bobo, leaf, seven stones, kapa egoba goba, face to face and back to back’. These games are a lot of fun. The children from the community leave us with a big smile.
